Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish

Love is no good for anyone. It writes the occasional brilliant pop song – and even more rarely a fine poem. The only reliably good thing about being in love is the weight loss (but it’s heartbreak that really takes the pounds off). Other than that, love is a form of insanity. […] One of the reasons I love and hate London in equal doses is that there is no love here. Of course, mothers love their babies and couples do fall in love. But really, the self-seeking drive required flourish in a metropolis doesn’t leave too much time for tenderness. Love is more of a game here: entertainment. That’s the thing about love: there is great fun in trying to find it. It keeps much of London’s nightlife afloat. Going out with a gimlet eye and new shoes is a drug. I have found love here many times – too many, possibly. Einstein said the definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” The ups and downs of falling in and out of love keeps life exciting, but if it’s long-term real love you are looking for then you’re in the wrong place. Happy Valentine’s”
